My name is Phil Wainewright and I’m a Lib Dem member in Sutton, south London. I’ve been a party member since the early 1980s and was Chair of Camden Liberal Democrats when the LibDems leapt from third to first and ran Camden Council as the largest party from 2006-2010 — and came just 841 votes short of winning Hampstead & Kilburn from Labour in the 2010 general election.
I first started thinking about publishing a blog on Lib Dem politics as early as 2006/7 and Raw Liberal first launched for a few brief weeks in 2010 but I wasn’t able to keep it up due to work commitments at the time. TBH I probably don’t have time for it now, either, so we’ll have to see how this goes.
Nothing I write here is endorsed by any other titles I write for, including my day job, where I write about technology in business. However those interested in politics may enjoy reading the following pieces published there:
- How the Right got its hands on all the best data – and paid Facebook to call the tunes
- Technology, diversity, globalization and the left-behind
- Why the tech industry should lobby for a robot tax
